Jersey City Uncontested Divorce

An uncontested divorce usually means where a spouse who is seeking a divorce does not have to actually prove grounds for the divorce. This type of situation can happen for a variety of reasons and usually happens when children are not a factor or large estates.

To get anuncontested divorce in New Jersey, the party bringing the action needs to state a reason that is accepted by the New Jersey Family Court. Irreconcilable differences are probably the most frequently and liberally used reasons for a Hudson County Divorce or Essex County Divorce.

The Hudson County Family Court and courts throughout the State of New Jersey impose a $250 fee to file for divorce. I consider the NJ divorce filing fee to be quite high compared to other civil case filing fees but I suppose the amount of paperwork and the heavy caseload of the New Jersey Courts is part of the rationale behind this fee as well as New Jersey's interest to try and keep families together. 

All divorces are difficult in one way or another. However, a New Jersey uncontested divorce is usually much smoother than contested divorces with child custody and child support issues.
